Xiao Wang: Four Recurrences of Liver Metastasis, Accompanying My Father Through Colorectal Cancer Treatment | Panda Interview
Xiao Wang is the administrator of the Panda Liver Metastasis group and its resident source of joy. Just before starting her first year of graduate school, her father was diagnosed with colorectal cancer with liver metastasis. While pursuing her studies, she accompanied him to Beijing for treatment. His journey has been incredibly arduous, with four recurrences following liver metastasis surgery. Yet, time and again, they gathered their strength, reset their mindset, and pressed forward, combining systemic chemotherapy and targeted therapy with proactive surgery, ablation, and radiotherapy.
Four years later, Xiao Wang has become a lawyer in Shenzhen, and her father has achieved a tumor-free status. In this interview, Xiao Wang systematically shares her father's real treatment journey for the first time—from a late-stage diagnosis to multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, ablation, and radiotherapy. She also candidly opens up about the emotional tug-of-war she experienced as a daughter, navigating between hope, fear, breakdowns, and perseverance.
This is not merely a story about treatment choices, but a genuine summary of practical experience regarding execution, bridging information gaps, building trust, and managing emotions. If you are accompanying a family member through cancer treatment or facing difficult medical decisions, this interview may offer you strength and direction.
This project is supported by the Beijing Aipu Cancer Patient Care Foundation.
