Scams Targeting Cancer Patients Escalate Again | New "Pig-Butchering" Schemes Precisely Harvest Families' Lifesaving Funds
Beware of New "Pig-Butchering" Scams! Uncovering Upgraded Fraud Traps
Recently, scams targeting cancer patients have grown increasingly covert. Disguised as "patient support groups," these new "pig-butchering" schemes are precisely draining families' lifesaving funds. A family member of a late-stage gastric cancer patient joined an "anti-cancer support group" to save their mother. Scammers posing as fellow patients used claims of "Health Commission connections" and "surgeries by top Shanghai doctors" to induce transfers of tens of thousands of yuan. In reality, they were scalpers reselling hospital admission slots at inflated prices. Ultimately, the patient received no effective treatment and missed the window for chemotherapy due to delayed exams. Even if you avoid this, follow-up traps involving health supplements and cell therapies await.
There are no shortcuts in cancer treatment! We encourage all patients and families to learn about standardized medical care, seek treatment through official channels, avoid scams, and protect yourselves.
